It's Alive! 🧠
We are Harriet Cody and Cole Jefferies, the ‘minty fresh’ minds behind Minty Noodles Ltd, a company fuelled by combined expertise and shared enthusiasm for board games. Now, we’ve set out to create some board games we want to play!
Harriet has a background in product and graphic design. A Master’s in Design and a wide range of design industry experience, from educational materials and brand identities to furniture and mini golf.
Cole is an established computer games developer. He and his company, ColePowered Ltd, created games such as Concrete Jungle and, most recently, Shadows of Doubt. A stealth detective game which is currently available on Steam (check it out if you haven’t already!)
Together we are partners in life, and now in business. Cole’s brain for mechanics and Harriet’s eye for design is a combination that will surely spring some interesting results!
Our first project ✨
We have been fans of escape rooms, board games and adventure games for years! We love playing with family and friends and want to convert our years of experience playing games into making one. While we as a couple have the foundation and experience to make this new endeavour not an unrealistic one, for Harriet especially, it’s all a brand new, scary experience.
Since Cole is still working hard on Shadows of Doubt, he will be joining the project later. Leaving Harriet to lay the foundations and playing all the board games for ‘research’. – A hard life.
While reflecting on the past few months Harriet has identified the ups, the downs and the sticky bits.
Things I have loved:
❤️ Being creative with no bounds.
❤️ Getting to play board games and escape rooms as ‘Research’ for ‘Work’.
❤️ Learning new skills and a new industry.
❤️ Solving problems and iterating.
❤️ Developing a new work/life balance.
Things I have found tricky:
💩 Developing a new work/life balance.
💩 Solving problems and iterating.
💩 The sheer amount of admin.
Things I have found terrifying:
☠️ Signing up for playtesting events. Real life strangers letting us know whether it’s any good or… well… not.
☠️ Inevitably being behind schedule.
☠️ Learning, everything.
All in all, it’s been a good start to our first project and we have a product that’s starting to shape up into something interesting, something… fun. Follow along the journey of the inevitable ups and downs as we do something for the first time and hope we produce something that’s not awful.
