We visited London ToyFair
Last week, the team ventured out from behind our desks and into the big city, as we took a trip to our very first London Toy Fair 🧸
As board game developers in our infancy, we went with the intention of scoping the landscape and learning what we can anticipate down the road, as we continue our journey through the industry.
We therefore wanted to share what we discovered… apart from making sure we wear comfortable shoes next time!
💬 Don’t be afraid to say hello.
We were, admittedly, a little nervous to approach exhibitors at first. As we walked around the convention hall, we saw a plethora of names that we had admired for years, and there we were, with the opportunity to speak to them… intimidating 😳. However, after a lap… or maybe two, we took a big breath and went to say hello. And guess what? People were lovely. The warmth we were greeted with and the knowledge they were prepared to share was honestly so encouraging. Not only that, it led to some amazing conversations and connections. It shows that you never know where that quick hello can lead you.

👣 Taking your first steps is still a step.
So there we were, surrounded by all these Goliaths of the toy world, but after a few great conversations, we were starting to feel at home. Though we are at the very beginning of our journey, we had a valid place. Even if that day, it was just a place where we were learning. Imposter syndrome is a beast we all have to shoo away occasionally 👹. However, Toy Fair London was a valuable exercise in centring ourselves and validating our place in the process.

🔮 Future Forecasting.
Planning — we love to do it, and going to our first convention of the year was a great way to do it. We won’t reveal too many secrets now, but this was an excellent exercise in evaluating: evaluating what would be of benefit to us, and what possibly doesn’t serve us right now.
🌟 Bonus lesson for making it this far 🌟
Axolotls! People love them 💕
We loved exploring Toy Fair and meeting people out in the wild. We can’t wait to meet more board game lovers as the year goes on as we prepare to launch our KickStarter this spring!
Keep up with everything we’re by making sure you’re signed up to mailing list and following Minty Noodles on socials 💚
